The incredibly talented Carla tagged me. I’m supposed to list 20 random things about myself and then tag as many people as it took minutes for me to write my list. I did play by the rules in that the list is random. It took me about 20 minutes to write however, so I’ll not be tagging 20 people. Although that might be fun…

20 random facts:

1) Encarta’s definition of topography: a study or detailed description of the various features of any object or entity and the relationships between them.

2) Things I’m into this month include: raspberry doughnuts, corduroys, chocolate colored sweaters, packages in the mail, beeswax candles, and wine with pretty labels.

3) I forget to eat and then get really moody and totally annoyed that I’m hungry.

4) I intensely dislike having to talk to people I don’t know on the phone (except it was delightful to talk to Elaine, who has a lovely musical laugh, and who sounds just like I’d imagined: strong, wise, and insightful.)

5) I stay up way too late at night.

6) My second serious boyfriend in high school once told me to “Go downstairs to the kitchen and help my mom cook me a nice steak.”

7) At the time I saw nothing wrong with his request. Now I’m mortified.
8) I was born in Colorado.

9) I have taken care of a boa constrictor twice in my life.

10) One of my favorite flowers is the Zinnia.

11) When I’m by water, I skip stones.

12) I can’t paint without getting it all over my hands.

13) I can’t eat popsicles without getting the juice all over my shirt.

14) I like Thai iced tea, Mango Lassi, Chai, and Mexican Hot Chocolate.

15) I don’t like fresh figs, brussel sprouts, or okra.

16) I love going skinny dipping, especially at night.

17) I’m a bit of a magazine whore: I have a shameful amount of subscriptions coming to my house (Yes Jillian, that includs People!) but I rarely watch T.V.

18) I’m not afraid to admit I like froufrou drinks like zinfandel and wine coolers.

19) I have taken extended backpacking trips in Pueto Rico, France, Switzerland, Germany and the Pacific Coastal U.S.A.

20) I say prayers.

I’m tagging (if they want to play, or have already been tagged..): Blackbird, Melanie, Steph, Fuzzypeach, and Jill

Woohoo! I always feel like such a celeb (much like the people in People, ha!) when you mention me, Christina.

Many things on this list did not surprise me (skinny dipping, frou frou drinks, liking Thai iced tea/mango lassis/chai/mexican hot chocolate—we’re foodie sisters at heart, or at stomach), but what DID surprise me is that you don’t like figs.

Really? They’re so yummy! Marinated in madiera or sherry, or warm with mascarpone cheese. Mmmm.

Hi Christina! Thanks for playing tag…I really enjoyed reading these facts about you. You seem like such a fascinating woman, so I had to get you to spill a few more…ahem..beans! You know, I adore zinnias too..they are so riotously colorful and they just keep blooming and blooming the more you cut them. My old grandma used say that she liked them because they are so “satisfying.” I have to agree with Jillian..for some reason I would think you’d like figs. They’re quite tasty on vanilla ice cream…

Alright gals, I’ll go buy some fresh figs and give them a try. Honestly, I haven’t eaten them since I was a child, so perhaps I’m giving them a bad rap without reason.

I don’t like figs either, so you’re not alone chica. My husband eats fig newtons and I don’t let him kiss me until he mouthwashes….

p.s. Until today when I heard a chick on NPR talking about Dora the Explorer, I never knew there was a such thing as Mexican Hot Chocolate. And here you have it in your post. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeird, huh?

That was a fun list to read! Can you believe I’ve only been skinny-dipping once in my life? But it was in a hot spring, with 2 guys, so I think it makes up for it, haha!

Love these! Yours are particularly interesting. As for figs — yes! Get fresh ones. I became a convert when I lived in Greece (teaching English) and there was a fig tree in our backyard. I agree with #s 3 and 4 and identify with 6! n my case, I had a huge crush on the Boy Next Door and one day I was over there while his mother was making stuffed peppers for dinner. “The woman I marry will have to be able to cook really good stuffed peppers,” he informed me. After I picked my eyebrows out of my hairline I probably rushed home to pull out cookbooks. I’m so glad I’m not 15 any more… (And years later I remember how he and his wife — who he married young — looked like prematurely-aged old people.)

I was going to get started on my own random twenty, but then yours was eerily exactly like me, so I just re-read your twenty random things.
