I'm not saying

Posted on | July 20, 2006 | 20 Comments

Either this gorgeous handbag is the real deal & an exquisite gift from my mother-in-law. Or, it is a knock-off that she bought on Canal street, after following a man who didn’t speak any English up seven flights of stairs to a back room in the garment district where she was locked into a room overflowing with bags, where she selected this beautiful specimen for a mere fistful of smallish bills. I’m not telling.

But I love it because it does far more than simply schlep all my stuff around: it makes my painfully boring black t-shirt and khakis fashionable, simply by being tossed over my shoulder nonchalantly. For this reason alone, I will now commence carrying it everywhere.

Didn’t think I was the type to tote Prada bag? I didn’t think so either. But then I though this might be just the thing I need to rectify my flagrantly pathetic approach to style.

I’m all about effortless fashion, people. And what could be more effortless than carrying a bag that can hold everything from diapers to lip gloss and still look divine?

oooohhhh, nice. I’m a total purse whore and will spend far too much money for a fabulous bag. My clothes may have baby food on them, but my bags are fab!

Seems as if that is the way to acquire a great handbag these days! My husband just returned from NYC and had the exact same story and had pictures of the room! I received a great looking Burberry, but after seeing yours…oh well! It looks great!

you don’t have to say but i will tell ya that the canal street scenario is a much better story…that’s the one i’m going to choose to believe because it’s much more adventurous and evocative and mysterious…

Especially if you didn’t have to shop for it yourself! You might be on to something.

Aaah, I have a Coach purse that came to me much like the story you describe here. Except it was from my mom. And I think it maybe fell of a truck. A truck full of marijuana. I don’t care though, I have a Coach purse! Screw it if it’s too small to fit anything in or it smells like a hippie.

It’s perfect for you, and I adore the color – like the summer sky! And you may say your wardrobe is boring, but I have the feeling it’s more like classic, ala Katherine Hepburn…
