Happy new year!

Posted on | December 31, 2006 | 15 Comments

I cannot think of a better way to toast in the new year than to hurtle downhill on a sled. Wild, silly fun. Bean’s grin spreading like sunshine across his face. DH laughing, truly in the moment and content, just before he bites snow for the hundredth time. The heat of our breath rising up against the cold air, and in between our giggling, how quite the landscape is covered in snow.

I am ready for a new year. And if I had to distill my resolutions for this year into one pure wish, it would be this: to bring loving devotion to every single moment.

I’ll probably write an uberlist over here, tomorrow. In the meantime, if you had to pick one thing for this year–one theme, one goal, what would it be?

Also, happy new year to all of you!

The “one theme” for me would be to live a healthier life…in all aspects…soul, mind, and body.

May the new year be one of dreams come true and the birth of many more.

As I wrote my list of goals for the year – recover my German which has gone downhill since my son was born and I stopped going to class, find a new yoga class now that my yoga teacher has stopped teaching, etc – I realized that they all boiled down to the same thing: reclaiming some time and space for myself. I look at my two-year old and I know that a lot of what he is is thanks to all the time I devote to him, but all the same it’s time to devote some more time to myself. Somehow.

Miss the snow — it’s unusually warm here. Here’s my goal: Praise my children for who they are not what they do, even when they do all of those things that make me crazy!!

Happy New Year!! I love the kitty in the background looking completely startled with a look that says “Oh no you didn’t!”

I wish for peace for my family in the decisions we made this past year.

    To live more simply…

That snow almost looks fun. That’s saying a lot from this sunbelt girl!

    Happy New Year.
So beautiful: to bring loving devotion to every single moment.

After reading this, that is what I wish to do. But had I not read it, I would have written, “To live life fully, honestly and be myself”.

Bean continues to bring smiles to my face.
    Best wishes.

Love all your happy snow pictures. To chime in with everyone else’s new year’s resolutions, I hope to continue to find ways to be creative. Last year I reclaimed some creativity for myself, and even when the bambina comes, I want to take plenty of pictures and write plenty of posts. You know, when I can. :) In between the screaming and the dirty diapers.

    # 1 Resolution is to play more and worry less. If I can accomplish that, I think the quality of my life will improve beyond measure! A happy and healthy new year to you and your lovely family. Really enjoy reading your blog. You have such an incredible gift with the written word… thank you for sharing that with all of us.
