(Time in parenthesis)

Posted on | October 7, 2007 | 14 Comments

We took a weekend trip. Just us. Two. Without the little scampering sweetness we’ve created. It was the first time, since him. The first time to loll about in bed, taking advantage of uniterrupted time spent both horizontal and unclothed. And also, time to laugh and sip martinis at the open bar (we went to a wedding) and to tear it up on the dance floor. Time to giggle and eat ice cream and walk hand in hand. Time to watch mallards landing on the Delaware River, and the fog lifting. Time to poke into ecclectic hippie shops and glass blowing galleries and cafes. It was, simply put, an amazing weekend of rediscovery. We have so much fun together. He rocks my world, still. More now.

Our two recent nights away from Pearl were also lovely! It was fun and interesting, like being newly together again. Together in yet another new way.

Love the photos of the fountains & trains & you look gorgeous!

Scampering sweetness is an adorable term of endearment. I’m glad you had a good, fun, relaxing, rediscovering weekend away. We all need that, time to time.

We haven’t had, nor likely will have, a weekend away in many many moons. But, we have a date night tonight! Meeting friends for drinks before seeing David Sedaris. I have no doubt the laughter and hand-holding will make me one happy woman.

That is the most perfect way to describe your child – scampering sweetness. Gosh, isn’t it amazing that you can collide with someone you love so, and then you have a hand in making someone you love even more than you thought you could love?

I’m so glad that you had a weekend escape – what bliss.

We didn’t have time away from the boys for many many years, and when we were given a cottage near the sea for a week, leaving the boys to batch, after three days we just wanted to see other people! It was winter, cold, no telephone, no friend knocking on the door. We were so used to lots of people about. So went up to Melbourne for two days and stayed with a Fiji family, then drove back to the lonely cottage, and at last we went home to the kids.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your breath taking words the past few months but had yet to speak up, till now.

How splendid for you to get away with your love.

I am dreaming of the day I will get my getaway. But, oh my, the dreams are sweet….

    Lovely. And well-deserved, I’m sure.
