Right Click

Posted on | December 26, 2008 | 11 Comments

Trying to figure out how to use my new MacBook Air. Everything about it is so pretty I cried when I got it. It’s as thin as a piece of toast; fits in my purse. Love it. Still–I have yet to figure out what to do instead of right-clicking on everything. I had no idea how much I relied on that feature. Mac lovers out there, help, please. :)

More to come, once I figure that out.

Here’s your right click substitute… enjoy!

    Two ways:

Holding down the Ctrl key when you click counts as a right click.

Putting two fingers on the trackpad will make your click count as a right click.

    control key, baby!

Also, that track pad is magic. Try dragging with two fingers, pinching and spreading (like you would on an iPhone) to enlarge and shrink or rotate, etc.

Enjoy! The others have said “control” already. My advice with a Mac is to be unafraid to try things. Click on stuff, hold down keys, try key combinations, explore the preferences. You’ll have a hard time hurting it and will most likely find a pile of magic along the way!

Yippee! You guys rock. I’m sooo excited about the track pad features. Okay, one final question: how do I correct spelling errors when they get underlined? I would right-click on a PC… but when I try the control etc. It doesn’t give me spelling choices…

And I am so working on a post right this very second.

Hmm…which browser are you using? When I right click on an underlined word (using either the ctrl+click or the two fingers+click), it has suggestions at the top. If you’re using Safari, go to Edit–>Spelling & Grammar and make sure “Check Spelling While Typing” is turned on. Maybe that helps?

Good luck…you’ll love it and you’ll never go back!

Thanks Jennie–now that I’ve mastered right clicking the new way, I see it up there at the top.

Already I’m in love. It’s so fun. So easy. Hassle free. And the Air is sooo small.

Also you can go to your Apple> System Preferences and in Keyboard & mouse settings, enable Tap Trackpad using 2 fingers for secondary click. This is really cool where you place 2 fingers on the pad and click at the same time and it works like a double-clicking.
