Love this whole story. Made me laugh. Made me a little bit sad. Made me feel completely validated in my own longing to go camping as I used to… away from everyone but without all the work that that would require with a toddler. I actually found a local preserve that has great isolated campsites that you can drive right up to, and they limit the number of people who can camp there. When our Big Brothers Big Sisters group went, we were the only people there, and we had peace and quiet and solitude, and we only had to haul things about 100 yards from our car. Maybe there are state parks or preserves in your area where you can take the boys.
Oops… meant to post this comment with the story from yesterday, not with these awesome pictures that seem to portray a completely different story. Glad you found some fun in the middle of it all, and I DH’s comment about having you to go through it with. Any idea where I can find one of those?
Hey, Christina! Good to see YOU in pics. Sweet shots. LOVE the darkened sky/water/boy pics. Beauties.

I was thinking about this too, Barb–how pictures can tell any story. In this case there WAS this beauty, these moments… just sandwiched between other ridiculous moments!
I caught this post and not the last and thought, “Oh Jack would love a little cabin with the bunk beds. we should really go camping…” Then I read the previous post Sounds like you handled it very well, I am a huge supporter of cutting your losses and getting the heck out of Dodge before things go totally downhill when it comes to the kids. We enjoy our little lives a lot more that way.
The photo of Sprout in the stroller with all the stuff kills me by the way, he looks so pleased with himself and unaffected by it all!
And p.s. we sleep in a double bed every night and by morning there are all FOUR of us in there! Not saying it’s comfortable, just saying it happens!

You have such a beautiful family. And look at all of the smiles!
No pictures of the nudist beach though. Huh.
August 19th, 2009 @ 4:23 pm
I don’t believe it’s couth (is that a word?) to take pics on a nude beach…something about that puts one immediately in the ‘skeevie’ category.
