“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”–Annie Dillard
Maple sugar on the first snow of the season…
TEETH!
Our advent wreath with a little twirly mobile from Germany (a childhood tradition.)
Our first gingerbread house attempt this year. Bean cut out the templates and the dough. And mixed everything.
Bean was hilarious to watch decorating these. He was so careful with the icing… then DUMPED the sprinkles on.
Lots of snowflakes have been cut this year…Bean made this one entirely himself.
Bundled up. Getting ready to do our annual holiday photo…PS: I’m sort of sick and am hating the general anxiety of Sunday night. There is always a to-do list bigger than my brain waiting for Monday. What’s on your to-do list this week?

Oh man… what’s NOT on the to-do list. Finish Christmas shopping, wrap all gifts, pack for 10 days worth of travelling, finish up everything at work, find some good recipes…. the list goes on and on. But this time of year it’s sort of pleasant, right?

Mine isn’t any different than Hillary’s. This year, rather than going straight to family’s we are going to try and have a little family vacation on the way – so there is that to plan for too.
Your little ones are so cute. Enjoy this season with them!

I have Christmas shopping, and wrapping as well, but I also have to do my cards, and baking. My husband began baking tonight, with spritz cookies…yum. Tomorrow, I have to lead a girl scout meeting. So. Nothing Christmas for tomorrow, just planning and shopping for the meeting. I am glad that it will be over, and then I can focus on my real stuff tomorrow.

Today, I’m going to show love to my family by doing a job I hate (laundry), balanced with a job I love (shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables.)
Sorry you have the Sunday Night Feeling. It can be icky & overwhelming. (Before I stayed home with my kids, I taught elementary school, and I felt like that every Sunday night because there was always so much to do.)
LOVE the picture decorating the gingerbread men. Such concentration!!!
Thank you for sharing your family with us.

I soooo feel you about Sunday night. And it’s way worse when you work from home (or are in grad school like me) and think “I’ll get that done on the weekend”, and then Sunday night roles around and it’s almost a new week.
LOVE the pictures, you look so beautiful with Sprout!!!

P.S. I’ve always loved that Annie Dillard quote, I think of it often actually….

Hmm.. .this week I am putting together the cash/cards for the doormen/super in my building, shipping a box to CT so I don’t have to haul it for Christmas, giving lots of attention to my cat who just spent the last four days along, baking cookies for the office Christmas party, writing poem clues for my dad’s hidden Christmas gift…
Today I took the bus back from Boston, thought a lot about changes I want to make in ’10, and went to an West African dance class which was humbling but also inspiring, and forced me to think physically in a way I haven’t in years… so I think I’m off to a good start. I think the best way to avoid “The Sundays” is to have something fun to look forward to on Monday, the the rest of the week takes care of itself…
Love the photos!

You had to ask. I’m a major Sunday night anxiety person. I’m going to choose to avoid the question.
What wonderful photos! All of you are so bright that your heads are lit up! Mmmm…icing and gingerbread. I love to see them grow into their hands and dexterity!
