Today i need…

Today I need you to remind me that the many hours and the messy house and the hunched shoulders and the dark circles under my eyes will all be worth it. (It will, right?)
Because I’m at that point with the proposal.
THISCLOSE.
I have a headache. It’s been raining all day. The birches look dramatic with their new chartreuse leaves blowing against a cement sky. Crows keep flying past with bits of things in their beaks. I’ve had too much coffee. And all my dreams were about my book.

Keep on going! You will remember these moments when your book is out there in the world. They will be the moments before it all happened. Try to enjoy them, just a little bit.

YES YES YES (and yes that’s supposed to be a shout). You’re doing your best, and it’s going to be enough, it’s going to take you forward and that’s what matters. In Spanish–”ánimo!” (which is like saying “you can do it”). Close your eyes and imagine big poufy pom-poms, and all your readers here jumping up and down and cheering for you. Because we are! xoxo

oh it will so be worth it. Some days are just made to challenge us and for us to doubt ourselves and what we are doing, but only by going through this and re-affirming our commitment do we truly make something worthwhile. If it came too easy, it wouldn’t be so meaningful.

Absolutely. It will be worth it. I want you to picture this book, in its finished form, on your bookshelf, my bookshelf, in bookstores all over the country…your book, stuffed in purses and diaper bags and backpacks…open, with coffee stains and fingerprints all over it…certain passages highlighted and underlined…this is going to happen! I wish I could empty my bank account for it! Stay strong and know that we all believe in you so much. I just wish I could come and get the kiddos out from under your feet for afternoon to help you out!

Yes, it will all be worth it! It’s days like this that propel us further towards our future. It’s all good. Even if it doesn’t always FEEL like it at the moment. Hang in there!
