August 25:: Working Together
Posted on | August 25, 2010 | 6 Comments

WORKING TOGETHER
We shape our self
to fit this world
and by the world
are shaped again.
The visible
and the invisible
working together
in common cause,
to produce
the miraculous.
I am thinking of the way
the intangible air
passed at speed
round a shaped wing
easily
holds our weight.
So may we, in this life
trust
to those elements
we have yet to see
or imagine,
and look for the true
shape of our own self
by forming it well
to the great
intangibles about us.

Wow. What a powerful poem. I have been reading poetry all afternoon, we did a project in class with poems today. It was perfect to visit here and find another one! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for posting a poem, at moments like this I think how I want to read more poetry. I read it three times…

Wonderfully expressed.
This is a reminder to me to get on Amazon and order the David Whyte books that are on my wish list. I keep expecting to find them in local bookstores, but the poetry sections in bookstores, even BIG bookstores, keep shrinking.
